Have you been looking all over the net and noticing more and more suppliers talking about alternative weddings and thought…..”what the hell do they mean?”

Alternative weddings aren’t all about being filled with totally wacky ideas, or have to be heavily themed. It’s about a unique and non-traditional way of celebrating the union of two people. It’s a way of expressing yourself as a couple and basically doing what the hell you want!! It’s all about making a wedding that screams you and only you!

Instead of following the conventional wedding customs, you can choose to incorporate your own personal beliefs, interests, and personalities into YOUR special day. This can include your type of venue, wedding attire, vows, and even personalised rituals……I like the idea of everyone taking a shot at the ceremony. Although don’t blame me for the crazy dancing later in the night after it ;).

There are loads of ways in which you can totally make a wedding your own. But you have to be strong and keep others opinions away…cause let’s face it, people do have them!

Want a friend to marry you. Don’t want a cake. Having a pizza reception. A big no to speeches. All these points are totally fine and don’t feel pressured into doing them if YOU don’t want to! And the list can go on but the most important thing to remember is, if something makes you feel the ick…that’s a clear sign to not bloody do it!

How to make your alternative wedding come to life…

Wedding styling can be a great way of adding your own vibes to your wedding day and Elena and Phil’s wedding is a great example of a non-traditional wedding. Their venue was at St Duke Street in Liverpool where they had their first date. They expressed their love of colour using pops of pink, red and orange. And it was a total ‘go big or go home’ vibe just like the couple themselves. They picked suppliers who understood the non-traditional style and matched their vibes perfectly. They even opted to head to a bowling alley in between their ceremony and reception. Meaning they got some time on their own before the meal and party!

Styling a wedding with personality not only looks amazing, but it also creates a fun and inviting atmosphere. There are great ways of adding some couple humour into the mix too. You could add silly quotes you say to each other, little pictures around the venue of you being you and even pop some characters onto your tables with little ornaments. It really doesn’t matter what you do, I just want you to remember that it should reflect you as a couple. Because at the end of the day, it’s your bloody wedding!!

Becky was amazing from the get go I knew she was the right person to set up our wedding. Sometimes my ideas went a bit wild and she wouldn’t mind me asking her opinion along the way. She was super pro but super friendly too. The whole lead up was as much a pleasure as seeing her bring my ideas to life with a sprinkle of her style magic – honestly, to say our set up was beautiful and everything we wanted, feels like an understatement- it was perfect.

Why I love alternative weddings…

Let’s face it, they are more fun! I love how couples express themselves because traditional just ain’t my thing! Weddings should be something you look back at and think…”Damn that was good!” not stressful and not trying to please everyone. I love the atmosphere and how everyone just feels themselves on the day. And that’s why R&R is here. I’m here to help you express your quirks, your fave colours and just let you be you. No brief is impossible! I want you to feel confident and comfortable in all your wedding decisions. I’m celebrating you and that’s it.

My wedding styling packages are not just there to help you create one stylish bad-ass wedding, they are also there as a confirmation that you can just be you (yep I have said that a million times haven’t I).
