The non traditional venue
Picture this: Ramsgate Music Hall, nestled snugly in the heart of Kent, England, a mecca for music aficionados, rebels, and free spirits alike. Now, when it comes to planning your big day, choosing the right venue is like hitting the jackpot. It’s not just about finding a place; it’s about finding a place that screams “you.” It’s the cornerstone of your wedding vibe, the canvas upon which all your DIY dreams are painted.
For Finn and Nath, Ramsgate Music Hall was a no-brainer. With a shared love for indie tunes and a desire to support local businesses, this venue was more than just a spot on the map—it was their sanctuary. Having spent countless nights soaking in the sounds of their favorite bands, it was only fitting that they’d say “I do” in a place that held so many memories.
And here’s the cherry on top: every time they step foot in that venue now, they’re not just reliving the gigs of yesteryear; they’re adding another chapter to their love story. It’s like having a secret locker full of memories, waiting to be unlocked with each passing visit.
Choosing a venue that speaks to your soul isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about setting the stage for an epic celebration that’s uniquely you. It’s the foundation upon which all your wedding styling dreams can flourish, making the entire process a breeze. So, when in doubt, let your venue do the talking—it’ll be music to your ears.

The DIY Wedding
Let’s dive right into the vibe, shall we? Planning a DIY wedding is like embarking on a creative journey where every detail reflects your unique style and personality. It’s a labour of love that requires careful consideration of what truly matters to you. After all, bringing together all those handpicked items takes time and dedication. It’s about prioritising the essentials while balancing the finer details, knowing when to splurge and when to get crafty, because let’s face it, DIY weddings can be hard work.
Collaborating with Finn and Nath was an absolute blast. They embraced my eclectic collection of stock items, from neon lights to disco balls, infusing their celebration with a punk-rock edge that was undeniably electric. Nath, in particular, was a crafting wizard, adding personal touches that elevated their wedding to a whole new level of uniqueness. From a custom table plan to quirky smiley face beer bottles and disco ball vases, every detail spoke volumes about their love for creativity and individuality.
These two weren’t afraid to march to the beat of their own drum. Injecting bursts of music, colour, and personality into every aspect of their day, they created a vibrant spectacle that was as bold as it was beautiful. Bright hues and oversized floral arrangements adorned every corner, while cheerful smiley faces added an extra dose of whimsy. Following my advice to create focal points, they transformed the stage into a stunning backdrop for their top table and later, the ultimate dance floor for the after-party.
Their reception was a feast for the senses, with shared palettes served on rustic German-style tables, fostering a sense of warmth and camaraderie among their guests. And true to form, they didn’t let anything go to waste. Repurposing flowers and candles from the dining area, they transformed the space into an extravagant stage setup, complete with neon lights and larger-than-life floral installations.
How a stylist can help you with your DIY Wedding
As their trusted stylist, it was an absolute delight to walk alongside Finn and Nath, offering insights and insider tips to finesse their DIY décor while keeping their budget in check. With a keen eye for detail and a knack for repurposing elements throughout the day, we not only achieved a seamless aesthetic but also managed to save a few pounds along the way. Because when it comes to orchestrating a DIY extravaganza, every penny counts!
When working with couples, I believe in the power of personalization. That’s why I always offer a site visit, even if I’m familiar with the venue.
