Real Wedding of Eli and Steph

Last October I had the pleasure of working with Eli and Steph on their neon and floral inspired wedding at The Old Cow Shed. The couple hired me to set up their wedding and also coordinate the day. The wedding was held over 3 days were the couple were keen to have a relaxing and chilled atmosphere. They wanted to enjoy walks together, spend time with their family and friends and also just didn’t want to lift a finger. So this is where I came in. From styling advise, to set up, to coordinating, to clear down. I was there for the ladies to make sure everything ran smoothly for them.

I loved working with Eli and Steph and enjoyed their non traditional attitude to their wedding day. There was bright tones of red and pink, neons everywhere and most importantly all the bloodly love in the room. It was a day I wont forget. Read more about the wedding and check out the amazing snaps from  We are lovely creatures below…

The event…

On day 1, I arrived at the venue and worked with the florist Grace Florals with set ups. I spent the day styling all areas ready for the morning. Whilst the work was carried out at the venue, Eli and Steph enjoyed a long walk with their son and also sassy pup. On the day of the wedding I was there to finish any last details and also greet suppliers who arrived throughout the day. I was there all day making sure the day ran smoothly and sorted out any hiccups along the way. The ladies enjoyed a relaxing morning getting ready together with their friends and lots of laughs were exchanged.  The next day everyone enjoyed a lay in and I cleared down the areas so everyone could enjoy their morning breakfast and also a chill in the sun. Yes even in October there was sunshine!!

As well as helping Steph and Eli with their wedding over the 3 days. I also supported them during the lead up to the event. We attended a site visit together, put together a styling guide to support them, I helped them communicate a better brief to the florist to make sure they were getting what they really wanted and was there at the end of the phone, email or text to help with any styling questions.

“I think we would both agree that we had the most fun when we were making all the initial ‘big’ bookings. Going out to look at venues, deciding on the food, googling different bands, searching for the perfect photographer (lovely creatures), finding a florist that was on the same page as us and most importantly booking our wedding stylist. Having a stylist wasn’t part of our initial plan, but we very quickly realised that we needed someone to bring our ideas to life.”

The venue…

The Old Cow shed has been a favourite venue of mine. The owners Simon and Helen are always up for anything and the space they have created is just insane. Many couples I have met have said that its the first and only venue they have visited and booked on the same day. And I can see why. The barn and outside space is prefect for indoor and outdoor weddings. They have onsite accommodation for all your friends and family to stay. They have an incredible tent covering the courtyard making sure you can party on whatever the weather! And the atmosphere allows you to be yourself and just enjoy it. Venues like this are ones that I wanna work at forever!

We really liked the idea that our guests wouldn’t have to travel from the ceremony to the reception as everything was right there. The accommodation is great, and the space available to you is fantastic. In most aspects, the venue is a blank canvas, and we liked the idea of being able to bring it to life in the exact way that we wanted.

The vibes…

One of the main reasons the couple fell in love with the venue was the ultra cool HOLY COW neon which is situated in the barn area. The couple was heavily inspired by this and based their wedding styling around this neon. Which is right up my street. I brought in extra neons and disco balls to continue the theme throughout the wedding. The florist then completed the styling with her bright florals and statement displays. This fitted perfectly with the colourful vibe of the venue and it’s beautifully painted mural wall.

The couple were super keen not to have a fussy wedding. It was just not their bag. The day reflected them perfectly on who they were and had the freedom of the guests being able to just move around and mingle when they pleased. Eli and Steph opted for street style food to limit the strict seat down meal atmosphere you sometimes get from a wedding. They wanted a relaxed and chilled day for everyone! With some added kid fun of a disco bouncy castle too…which saw everyone get on and have a go!

Words from the couple…

“GET A STYLIST. In fact, just work with Rebecca. We’re so glad that we didn’t have to worry about all the organising and co-ordinating of the little details that would have stressed us out, especially the night before and the morning of the wedding. We got to enjoy our wedding day in its entirety and didn’t have to worry about last minute hiccups. (Of which there were a couple). On the morning of the wedding, we got to have breakfast with our friends, a bounce on the bouncy castle, take our dog for a stroll and have a leisurely time getting ready.”

“Once we had everything booked in and the excitement had worn off a little, making sure all the detail was there was something we didn’t enjoy. I’m not the most organised so; timings, little details and coordinating everyone was a bit of a pain. After booking all the big stuff we had several months before having to finalise all the little details and as the wedding date drew closer sorting the minute details felt a little overwhelming! With 48 hours to go, and Steph with a wedding dress that still didn’t fit we were struggling to make decisions regarding smaller details, but a quick call to our stylist sorted it all out and made us feel relaxed about the planning again.”
