When it comes to weddings, many couples are looking for unique and personalized ways to celebrate their love. For those with a passion for music and a desire for a wedding that’s far from traditional, a rock ‘n’ roll wedding can be the perfect choice.

Imagine saying “I do” in a super cool tipi location all while celebrating your love with a rock ‘n’ roll twist. In this blog, I will take you on a journey through the details of a rocking tipi wedding in Derbyshire that will have you craving a rock-inspired wedding of your own.

Say hello to Yas and Pat’s wedding…

Setting the Stage

Taking inspiration from the music festival download and Mojo Bar in Manchester and infusing it with the electrifying spirit of rock music, I worked with Yas and Pat to create the most Rock’n’roll wedding that the Hidden Hive in Derbyshire had ever seen!

The brief was to be dark, moody and touches of rock elements to really showcase the couples personality. For the ceremony I really wanted to give the feeling of people arriving at a live gig. It had to be a little rough around the edges but also set the stage for the ceremony. Yas was super keen to create this backdrop and I can see why! The vibrant colours, eclectic graphics, and the unmistakable aesthetic of these posters transformed their ceremony space into a dynamic setting reminiscent of a concert venue. The backdrop not only provided a bold and personalized visual element but also served as a nostalgic journey through the soundtrack of their relationship,

a ceremony backdrop filled with rock posters neon stands and florals
a alternative welcome sign asking couples to not use their phones styled on a black easel with a floral meadow along the floor
a tipi cosy section with vintage sofa, love rock pink neon, neon strips and hanging lightening bolts
A large welcome sign inspired by the download festival signage. Hnaging on a black frame and floral meadow along the bottom

The details

Now let’s run through the details! In crafting the aesthetic for the ultimate rock’n’roll wedding, I took myself down the road where black, purple, and red hues collided with unapologetic energy. The colour palette was not just a choice; it was a statement. I used those colours through the wedding decor making sure everything was consistent in the design. Then each area was given its own rock’n’roll touch.

Beer cans defo had to be involved in this design, adding in rebellious accents that echoed the essence of rock culture. Alternative floral displays replaced traditional arrangements, incorporating unconventional blooms that embodied the spirit of the unconventional. Roses intertwined with dark foliage, creating a moody and romantic atmosphere. The stationery was a symphony of rock-inspired graphics, song inspired table names and no shits given with the swearing!

Every element was meticulously curated to not only reflect the couple’s love for rock’n’roll but also to redefine the boundaries of what a wedding celebration could be—raw, passionate, and undeniably cool.

Having a tipi wedding can really allow you to do what the hell you want because it is such a blank space. So let’s incorporate those band posters, add in a ton of neon signs, and really say fuck it to the rustic vibes!

That Rock’n’Roll feeling…

The best thing I love when working with my couples, is their don’t give a damn about what others think attitude when it comes to their wedding planning. And Yas and Pat did just that! There are loads of ways you can also add in that alternative non-traditional atmosphere by choosing a relaxed and chilled feeling to your day. Cause if your relaxed the whole day will really reflect that energy!

Yas opted for a black bridal number that she felt 100 dollars in! Pat looked super cool in his red suit jacket and cool highlighted red shoes making him look like a rock star! They had a ceremony personalised to them which was done by a family member. They had rock music throughout the day, which Yas looked badass walking into the ceremony to. They even added in their own shot guy because Yas loves them so much!! There was no sit down meal, they had cool games to keep guest entertained and mostly importantly they had the most rocking band ever to finish off the day.

There really isn’t any limits on what you can do for your wedding. I love helping couples feel confident in their decisions and create styling that truly reflects them as them!!
