Vegas Baby!!!

When a supplier jumps into my inbox and gives me a brief starting with…….”Wanna style a vegas themed shoot with me?” How could I say no!! The concept of the shoot was delivered to me by the duo photo legends Jim and Kerri from Dearest Love Photography and Lindsay from Worcestershire Wedding Planner. The brief was to create a look filled with bright colours and of course..Vegas. I was brought on to pull together a moodboard and to style the shoot on the day.

Read on to learn about how I brought this together and tips on how you could create your own Vegas themed wedding!

The theme…

First things first is getting the theme spot on. Vegas is filled with bright lights, buzzing energy and endless entertainment. So it was a given that I had to use vibrant tones for the colour palette. When working with a themed brief, I try not to focus too much on the cliché stuff. Yes I could of whack in tones of neons, the big Vegas sign and lots of casino tables…but that just wasn’t gonna work for this shoot. It’s important that working with a brief you also look at what is available at the venue. Drovers Rest Farm is well a farm so it has to also balance right with the back drops and surroundings at the venue. I wanted it to look both fun and unforgettable so my idea was to add hints of Vegas in styling elements such as the colours, stationery and banners.

The Attire…

This is where you can be super fun with your attire. Go classy for the ceremony and then come out with a full on sequined and cowboy boot number for the reception. Anything goes at a Vegas themed wedding. Just make sure it’s comfortable enough to dance the night away. You could even opt for a classic Elvis-inspired look if you wanted. The freedom in having a non traditional wedding is well being non traditional. You have the power to wear whatever you want. But if you’re struggling in knowing where to start. Look into working with a fashion stylist. Laura at Thread over heels worked with us on this shoot to pull together the outfits and dress the couple on the day. She picked a velvet tux jacket for the groom and added in those show stopping silver cowboys boots to finish of the bridal outfit. All those little details really do bring everything together. It also helps that Laura got married in Vegas so knows a thing or two about the fashion style there.

The table decor and flowers

To me, Vegas equals casinos. Whenever I feel like booking a flight and going. I imagine me and my hubby dressing up and hitting the casino tables. The idea behind the table decor was to keep it simple with a splash of..you guest it…Vegas. Focusing mainly on pink and orange for the colours, I added in the Vegas flare with casino chips along the centre of the tables. Another idea you could do with casino chips is have them as place cards with your guest names on them, so it could be a little keepsake for when they head home. Remembering what a fab time they had at your wedding day.

And wedding tables wouldn’t be the tables they are without flowers. Nicki from Lilia Rose Floral Design supplied a mix of over the top designs to simple pieces. We wanted to make a focus point as a ceremony background so she went big with a over the top broken arch to frame the backdrop stands. Nicki created floral designs with pops of the colour palette in the designs. This breaks up the colour still given it that bright look but not being too over the top that it hurts the eyes. The florals on the table were kept small in a collection of bud vases. Again I wanted to have a colourful look but not too over the top that it got cheesy. The pops over lift the table and allow the colourful candles to show through.

The styling elements

Stationery and on the day signage is a great way of adding character and personality to the wedding day. Throughout the style of this shoot the Vegas theme is added into the invites, table name and banner. Both You me Oui and Day Dreamer Creative, created items which matched the colour scheme to a T. We worked together and brainstormed Casino sayings and quotes and with the full mix of creative individuals they smashed the brief.

And let’s not forget the CAKE!!! Perfect Cakes Co created a full bright pink cake which speaks for itself. The structure of the cake adds in that fun and different look to your usual wedding cake design. Perfect for couples wanting a very non traditional look to their day. The cake pops against the blank background and compliments the styling colours!

Tips to create your own themed wedding

When it comes to planning a wedding, opting for a theme can be a great way to add a unique and personal touch to your special day. Here are some tips to help you create the perfect themed wedding:

  1. Choose a theme that reflects your personality and interests as a couple. Whether it’s a rock theme or a beachy one, make sure it’s something that resonates with both of you.
