Dreaming of a colourful wedding? Dotting down all the colours of the rainbow and thinking…damn how the hell am I gonna make this look good. Well, just have a nosy at Abbie and Mike’s wedding at Garthmyl Hall. A prefect example of how you can add lots of colour to your wedding theme without it looking too OTT.

Abbie and Mike are a bundle of pure joy and happiness and this really was expressed throughout their wedding styling. Hints of all the colours where added around the venue throughout their florals, decor and even down to some amazing bridesmaid suits.

From the moment I met this couple at our consultation, to seeing them face to face at the site visit. I knew this wedding was going to be filled with lots of fun, personality and of course COLOUR! We worked together and spoke about focus areas of the rooms. What works and compliments the venue, how to bring the colour scheme in without it looking tacky and most importantly, what we could reuse throughout the day to really compliment their budgets.

One thing I knew, was their personalities were just so joyful and energetic, that we really had to show this throughout their wedding styling. So read on and see why a colourful wedding might be the one for you…

Why have a colourful wedding?

Colourful weddings are a great way to infuse personality and creativity into your special day. You can really go a little out their in your florals to even your attire…again…look at those bridesmaid suits!! (Can you tell I’m still not over them). You really aren’t limited on anything and you can work with different shades of your colour scheme to make the whole look compliment each other. It also means you get endless choose of decor items you can hire instead of just focusing on one colour which can limit your pickings.

My best advice for creating a colourful wedding, is picking a few main colours and then adding a couple of accents colours to match. This way you can have all the colours you love but keeping it stylish and modern too. For Abbie and Mike, the main colours where filled with tones of pink, orange and red, this was used in their florals and stationery. They then focused on accent colours of blue, purple and green in their candles and some signage. Meaning they had all the colours they wanted but only added pops of their accents for that modern look.

A great example of adding tones into your wedding is their reception tables. We went bright and bold in the centre but toned down the tables with lighter pink napkins and stationery so it wasn’t so overpowering on the eyes.

Don’t forget to also look at what’s around you. A great way of adding green to your colour palette is using the stems and leaves of your florals. Using the natural look of your flowers really helps add colour too. Also keep an eye out at what is already at your venue. We didn’t add any styling to the ceremony because of the beautiful florals and plants that surrounded the ceremony space already. Flowers which included all the colours within A&M wedding, so it was a prefect setting for their wedding day…and it saved them some pennies ;).

Whatever your style, a colourful wedding is sure to be a fun and memorable occasion. Remember, a colourful wedding is all about having fun and expressing your unique style. Don’t be afraid to get creative and let your personality shine through!

I wish I could give Becky more than five stars. Booking her as our supplier was the hands down THE BEST DECISION we made as a couple. She understood our vision to create a fun, colourful, disco themed party for our guests from the get go and gave so much thought into how to use every space, with her incredible stock, to pull everything together. She sent us design plans, made site visits and created detailed timelines which allowed us to feel completely at ease in the run up to the big day. Nothing was too small of a request or question and she was always so generous with her time.

On the weekend of the wedding, Becky worked so hard to set up and make sure everything was perfect. It gave us the time back to relax with our friends and family knowing that everything had been taken care of, which is priceless. After investing so much time and expense into our personal touches, her attention to detail and expertise made the venue look truly stunning.

We honestly can’t thank you enough, Becky. We really feel that the wedding wouldn’t have been as wonderful without you as our supplier and we are so grateful.

How I can help you…

Abbie and Mike booked my set up package which included me attending a site visit with them. Here we dicussed all the ideas and how we can focus on areas needed throughout the venue. I created a design brief completely bespoke to them. They could then refer back to this plan whenever making those floral or stationery decisions and I was there to guide them through the whole process.

A&M did a fantastic job of making all the flowers for the reception tables and stationery so they were due a break! The couple had the venue for the whole weekend which allowed us to set up the day before the wedding. The couple had a family bbq the night before and because I was there on hand to do all the styling, they didn’t have to lift a finger. The sun was shining and it was gorg to see the couple just relaxed and having fun with their relatives and friends before the big day.

The day arrived and I was on hand to finish off the little details, to help putting out glassware, triple checking place settings and putting out some super fun garden games onto the lawn. Once the ceremony was done I was around to move signage and flowers back into the venue ready for the reception. We reused the bridesmaids florals to become centre pieces on the tables, which is prefect for saving a little on your budget. Then it was time to light those candles, get the party room ready and head back to get some rest ready to do the clear down.

The next day Abbie and Mike enjoyed a chilled morning with family having some breakfast at the venue. I then cleared, cleaned and packed up all the decor ready for the couple to just pick up and pop back into the cars. So not only did they get to chill before the day, they also enjoyed a lie in and chill the day after too! A great start to married life I say!
